MSI and SteelSeries partner to let you sync lighting effects across components and peripherals

MSI and SteelSeries have announced that they are now working together to allow you to sync the lighting effects across MSI components and SteelSeries peripherals.

One aspect of this partnership has been dubbed PrismSync, a name probably inspired by SteelSeries’ efforts on its QcK Prism mouse pad. It is part of the SteelSeries Engine 3 software, and will let you control lighting on MSI hardware and SteelSeries peripherals.

This means things like color shift, wave, and reactive lighting effects that spread across your mouse and keyboard and extend to your motherboard.

However, it’s not clear at this point how far this partnership will go, as the only MSI product now to support this is the Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard.

But given how manufacturers don’t seem to be letting up on cramming RGB LEDs onto their gaming gear, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the list of supported models expand to include more motherboards and graphics cards.

The Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon will also benefit from SteelSeries GameSense, which dynamically adjusts the lighting effects according to what’s happening in the game. Colors can vary according to things like health or ammunition, but the fact remains that very few games actually support GameSense, so that still has rather limited utility.
