Remember the bug that caused Intel Skylake processors to crash while calculating prime numbers or other complex workloads? That just got squashed with a BIOS update from ASRock, and other manufacturers are likely to follow up with updates of their own soon.

The error was first discovered by users of Prime95, an application commonly used to stress test CPUs by pushing them to their limits through the execution of complex prime number equations. Average users probably never even noticed that there was a problem, but the BIOS update should provide a peace of mind that everything is working as intended.

The ASRock BIOS update applies to all its Intel 100 series motherboards. The company says that updated systems will now be able to run Prime95 with no hiccups. The BIOS update can already be downloaded from the company's support page here

We'll update this piece as other motherboard vendors release their own updates.
