Intel Launches Core i7-2700K Processor, Reduces Prices of Low-End Desktop CPUs

Intel has launched its new Core i7-2700K CPU at a price of US$332; it has a default frequency of 3.5GHz, a 100MHz bump in clock speed compared to its 2600K predecessor.

Intel has launched its new Core i7-2700K CPU for US$332, priced US$15 more than the Core i7-2600K. The new quad-core processor has a a default frequency of 3.5GHz (that goes up to 3.9GHz with Turbo Boost), Hyper-Threading support for up to eight threads, and 8MB L3 cache. The 'K' suffix in its SKU means that the processor comes with an unlocked multiplier for overclocking purposes.

The chip maker also reduces the prices of its low-end desktop CPUs by approximately 15% for the Core i3-2120, Pentium G850 and Pentium G630. The prices for the Core i5 and i7 processors remain unchanged. For more pricing details, please refer to Intel's product database here.
