Intel Clarifies Ivy Bridge Delay Rumors

Intel says that its Ivy Bridge CPUs will be only delayed for a few weeks, dispelling the early rumor that their release would be delayed by two months. Intel spokesperson Jon Carvill told CNET that their launch schedule has been postponed by a few weeks. This is Intel's official statement to dispel the controversy surrounding the launch of Ivy Bridge.

Hence, if the release of an Ivy Bridge desktop product was scheduled for April, its release will be postponed to May. Similarly, according to CNET's report, Intel's "mobile product" that was planned to be released in May, will hit the market slightly later in the month of June. We believe that the spokesperson was referring to Intel's new Atom CPU Medfield that will be used to power Android smartphones and tablets.

Once Ivy Bridge has launched, their production is set to be increased at a rate faster than Sandy Bridge units. Intel expects to ship over 50% more volume of Ivy Bridge CPUs to the market in the first two quarters compared to its predecessor.
