It’s not a stretch to say that NVIDIA’s RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs are in such huge demand that combined with an acute stock shortages, have driven up prices to insane levels.

Take the GeForce RTX 5090 for instance. While AIB partners like ASUS ROG, Gigabyte and MSI have priced their RTX 5090 cards from anywhere between $4,899 to $5,999 (price varies between standard to water-cooled models), the reality on the ground is anything but. A quick “RTX 5090” search on ecommerce site Lazada shows these cards going up to a jaw-dropping $7,999. Local retailer Techyard seems to be holding on to recommended pricing slightly better though, but unsurprisingly all of their RTX 5090 and 5080 cards are listed as “sold out” too.

Update: According to a The Verge report (via Videocardz), it does not look like the SRPs for the AMD cards will hold for long. AMD would not deny reports that even the best-priced models of these GPUs are capped to specific quantities, after which they may be sold at higher than US$549 or US$599. Oh no.
