AMD is set to launch their next generation APUs this June, codenamed "Richland". As detailed previously in our news piece, these new APUs are AMD Socket FM2 compliant and will continue to use the same but improved Piledriver microarchitecture that debuted with the Trinity APUs. But while Richland APUs will fundamentally be the same as Trinity APUs, they do receive upgrades in the form of higher clock speeds and more powerful HD 8000 integrated GPUs. Additionally, the new APUs will also support native DDR3-2133 memory.
AMD claims that with these improvements, users can expect to see a 20% to 40% boost in graphics performance and also better overall CPU performance and efficiency.
BIOSTAR has announced that its FM2 motherboards are ready to support the new "Richland" series. Users simply have to update BIOS and drivers which are available on the BIOSTAR homepage.
