AMD has just refreshed its Godavari lineup with the new A8-7670K. It joins the A10-7870K that was launched just last month. In comparison with the A10-7870K, the A8-7670K has been pared down as it only features 10 compute cores; the former sports 12 such cores. They also differ in terms of CPU and GPU operating frequencies. Do refer to their tabulated specifications for more details.

Since both APUs are cut from the same silicon wafer, the A8-7670K supports AMD's FreeSync technology, Virtual Screen Resolution (VSR) and DirectX 12. They are also ready for Windows 10. One of the most exciting capabilities of the Godavari APUs is their ability to harness the graphical compute prowess of their onboard GPU cores and their paired discrete GPUs (AMD Dual Graphics support). This is possible due to the combination of Explicit Multi-adaptor and Split Frame Rendering technologies.

On its own, the A8-7670K is capable of outclassing rival Intel Pentium G3258 on all fronts. According to the performance figures on its product slide deck, the performance of its integrated Radeon R7 GPU is higher than the gaming capabilities of the Intel Pentium G3258, which was paired with a NVIDIA GT 730 graphics card. The company suggests the A8-7670K will be “perfectly paired” with an A68H chipset-based motherboard. The launch price of the APU is US$118; and AMD is targeting users with mainstream computing workloads. When paired with a supported graphics card, the A8-7670K can double-up as a casual PC gaming system.
