Adobe Enables 3D Web-Based Games With Flash Player 11 and Adobe AIR 3
Adobe's Flash Player is about to receive a major overhaul with the release of Flash 11 early next month. It will feature Stage 3D and AIR 3, allowing delivery of 2D and 3D games to a plethora of connected devices.
Adobe has announced an early October launch date of Flash 11 and will reportedly introduce a GPU-assisted rendering API called Stage 3D. Adobe claims that it will boost Flash's ability to render 2D and 3D games by one thousand times, enabling "console-quality games". Stage 3D enables content that efficiently animate millions of objects on screen, smoothly rendered at 60 frames per second, resulting in fluid, cinematic application and game experiences.

Adobe also claims that support for Android, Apple iOS, BlackBerry Tablet OS, Mac OS, Windows as well as Smart TVs will be made available at the launch. With Flash Player 11 and AIR 3, Adobe believes that they are providing amazing new building blocks for developers to create and instantly deliver engaging games "to anyone with a PC, tablet, smartphone, or connected TV." This also creates new opportunities for game developers and publishers to deliver and monetize their content. We believe that the new Flash 11 will leverage on the delivery infrastructure of Flash Media Server 4.5 and Flash Access 3.0 to reach their target audience.
