The MFC-J4340DW and the MFC-J4540DW are both A4 inkjet printers that can Print, Scan, Copy, and Fax. They share the same print speed (Up to 20 in black and 19 colour ipm) and the same 20-sheet ADF. There is also a single-sheet manual feed slot. Both are also capable of automatic duplex printing.

Replacement high-yield ink cartridges cost S$90 for both black and each individual colour cartridge and print 6,000 pages for black and 5,000 pages for colour. The ink cartridges that ship with the printers can print 3,000 pages in black and 1,500 pages in colour.

When it comes to scanning, they both scan in colour up to 1,200 x 600 dpi and in mono up to 1,200 x 1,200 dpi. As for their printing resolution, they both print up to 1,200 x 4,800 dpi.

In addition to the similarities, there are small individual differences.

The MFC-J4340DW has a 150-sheet paper feed tray, and a 1.8-inch LCD to control it. It also features wireless connectivity and can also print from smartphones.

As a higher-end model, the MFC-J4540DW has a 2.7-inch LCD, two paper trays with 150 and 250 sheet capacities. It also supports both ethernet and wireless connectivity and can also print from USB devices and smartphones.
