In what is its largest commercial print launch in a decade, HP unveiled new business-oriented printers in just about every product series. In addition to new OfficeJet Mobile printers and a line of PageWide printers for businesses, the company also introduced new OfficeJet Pro and LaserJet Pro printers to round off the flurry of announcements.

As part of a renewed focus on design, the OfficeJet Pro printers boast a new “Print Forward” design that is more compact and looks good as well. HP says that users did not like their printers to feature protruding paper trays, so it decided to implement a fully contained output tray that saves over 11cm in operating space. This also has the benefit of having printed papers land inside the printer itself, so users don’t have to worry about pages sliding out onto the floor.
In addition, the new paper path allows for high-speed, duplex printing at nearly the speed of single-sided printing. What’s more, the pages print face down, which makes the handling of sensitive documents slightly easier.
The OfficeJet Pro 8000 series printers cater to micro and small businesses that print up to 2,000 pages a month and include the following all-in-one models:
- HP OfficeJet Pro 8710
- HP OfficeJet Pro 8720
- HP OfficeJet Pro 8730
- HP OfficeJet Pro 8740
The company also debuted the OfficeJet Pro 8210 printer. This isn’t an AIO model and lacks the Page Forward design, but HP says that it offers professional quality printing at half the cost per page compared to laser printers.
For smaller operations that print up to 800 pages a month, HP announced the OfficeJet Pro 6000 series printers as follow:
- HP OfficeJet Pro 6960
- HP OfficeJet Pro 6970
The OfficeJet Pro 8700 series is expected to be available at the end of April, with prices starting at S$399. The OfficeJet Pro 8210 will hit stores slightly later in mid-May, starting at S$219. The OfficeJet Pro 6000 series printers following in July. Pricing will be released closer to availability.
LaserJet Pro series
The LaserJet Pro MFP M377 series printer is a multi-function color printer for small and medium business printing up to 4,000 pages per month. It offers an attractive combination of fast first-page-out from sleep, speedy duplex printing, and low total energy consumption. (Image Source: HP)
HP’s LaserJet printers are focused on providing customers with print shop document quality, fast speeds, and the best value with regards to monochrome printing. The new LaserJet Pro printers come with Original HP Toner cartridges with JetIntelligence, a toner technology that reduces wastage, improves performance, and helps you get more pages out of each cartridge.
They will support what HP calls JetAdvantage Private Print, a feature that prevents unauthorized access to confidential print jobs and reduces inefficiencies and wastage from misprints. Each print job is securely stored in the cloud, waiting for the user authenticate it and claim the job from the printer. This ensures that your documents don’t get mixed up with someone else’s or fall into the wrong hands.
The technology also supports HP Common Card Reader for even faster authentication.
The new LaserJet Pro printers include the following:
- HP LaserJet Pro M501 series
- HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M377 series
The LaserJet Pro M501 series is a monochrome printer for businesses printing up to 6,000 pages a month, in addition to what HP says is best-in-class first-page-out speeds and low energy consumption. It is now available at S$929.
On the other hand, the Color LaserJet Pro MFP M377 series targets entities printing up to 4,000 pages a month, offering features like fast duplex printing and extremely energy-efficient operation. It is also available now and costs S$879.
Secure Managed Print Services
HP today unveiled a whole lot of printers with new features and security capabilities.
Finally, HP announced a new Managed Print Services (MPS) called the HP Secure MPS, which offers in-depth device, data and document security to customers. Security experts and IT departments will be able to help customers secure their print environment with robust protections and then maintain security over time as threats and compliance requirements evolve.
This is in keeping with the security features introduced on the enterprise-class LaserJet Pro printers HP released last November, and includes abilities like self-healing BIOS, threat detection software and data encryption.
HP’s JetAdvantage Security Manager software, a policy-based printer security compliance solution, also got updated. It now enables greater visibility into what firmware updates have been applied across a fleet of HP printers, and provides information on which printers are protected by HP’s printer security solutions like Sure Start BIOS protection and whitelisting functions.
In addition, HP’s enterprise-grade printers can now be monitored for malicious activity by various security information and event management (SIEM) tools, which gathers data, logs, and security-related documentation from multiple points for analysis.
