Dell’s new UltraSharp Webcam uses AI to keep you looking your best
While the webcam doesn’t actually move, the AI is smart enough to seemingly track the user when its in use.

We often say, “Go big or go home.” And in the case of the new Dell UltraSharp Webcam, that is especially true.
Why settle for can do video calls when you can look 4K good? Plus, Dell is including enough bells and whistles to make sure you look as good as you can.

According to Dell, they wanted to create a webcam that produced the image quality equal to a Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera while still being easy to use.
The Dell UltraSharp Webcam features a large 4K Sony STARVIS CMOS sensor and multi-element lens that captures more light, for crystal-clear video at 30fps. It uses Digital Overlap HDR capability to ensure colours stay true-to-life and the exposure is balanced. The 3D/2D video noise reduction automatically eliminates grainy images.

To keep the user in the frame at all times during a video call, the Auto-framing feature uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to keep them in focus and centred in every frame. The webcam’s field of view can also be customised from 65 degrees for a close crop, 78 degrees, or 90 degrees for the widest crop available. to keep users looking their best.
There is also a magnetic privacy cover that snaps on the lens or on the back to ensure privacy when the camera isn’t in use. The webcam can be mounted on the rear of a monitor with a magnetic mount while a tripod adaptor gives the user more flexibility to use it how they like.
However, do note that there is no integrated mic which can be no big loss given the ambivalent sound quality most webcam mics produce. Dell recommends users purchase their Mobile Adapter Speakerphone but you could just use a headset with a microphone for better voice quality.
Also while the webcam can work without drivers on Windows 10 or macOS computers, but many of its features are accessible only in Dell’s Peripheral Manager software.
