ASUS Unveils World's First Combined Mouse and TouchPad, the VivoMouse (Updated with Video)
ASUS unveiled its VivoMouse that is a wireless optical mouse with a top circular trackpad. When the VivoMouse is paired with the new compact ASUS VivoPC, they will make an ideal home entertainment system. The VivoPC functions as a HD media hub with the VivoMouse as the perfect wireless remote.
ASUS has announced the VivoMouse in an attempt to reinvent the wireless mouse by integrating a touchpad with it. The circular touchpad supports the multi-gesture features of Windows 8 and the VivoMouse can also be used as a standard wireless optical mouse.
The model was photographed pointing at the touchpad of the VivoMouse.
Sporting a brushed aluminium look, the VivoMouse wouldn't look out of place next to the new ASUS VivoPC. This compact Windows 8 PC sports the same brushed aluminium look as the VivoMouse. When they are paired, the VivoMouse can function as a wireless remote to control the VivoPC.
An ASUS spokesperson who demonstrated the use of the circular trackpad of the VivoMouse. The trackpad-optical mouse was paired with a VivoPC that is a new Windows 8 compact entertainment PC.
The VivoPC sports the company's own SonicMaster audio technology and 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity, making it an ideal home entertainment hub . The VivoPC supports both 2.5- and 3.5-inch SATA 6Gbps HDDs and SSDs. It has a sliding top cover that will allow users to access a pair of memory slots. There were no further technical specifications and both VivoMouse and VivoPC are slated for release by the third quarter of this year.
