ASUS now has an ROG gaming monitor with an incredible 540Hz refresh rate (Updated)
Sensitive to lag? Can you track the flight of a housefly across the room? Then this is the monitor for you.

Are you incredibly sensitive to input lag? Can you discern the difference between a 240Hz and a 360Hz gaming monitor?
If the answer is yes to both, ASUS has a faster gaming monitor still. This is the new ROG PG248QP, which has an incredible refresh rate of 540Hz. Check out our brief encounter as ASUS compared its 540Hz screen with a 'conventional' 144Hz display:-
To be clear, this isn't the first time ASUS put out a monitor that was this quick. Last year, it announced the ROG Swift 500Hz, which, as you might have guessed, has a 500Hz refresh rate.
Like the ROG Swift 500Hz, the new ROG PG248QP only has a resolution of 1080p and uses a TN panel, so don't expect dazzling colours. Even still, ASUS claims this monitor can cover over 90% of the DCI-P3 colour space.
But you don't buy a ROG PG248QP for accurate colours, you buy it for its speed – and it has tons of that. This new monitor can bump its refresh rate up to a whopping 540Hz.
I'm not certain anyone needs a monitor this quick, because your game needs to running at an insane frame rates (around 500fps) to be able to fully capitalise on this monitor's wicked refresh rate.
Furthermore, the difference in response times between a 500Hz monitor and a 360Hz monitor is less than a thousandth of a second, after all.
But hey, isn't the point of gaming hardware all about pushing boundaries?
Availability and pricing
ASUS has yet to announce local availability and pricing details but we'll update this article once they do. That said, we've read reports saying the ROG PG248QP will cost around US$899 (~S$1,207).
