Aftershock PC is branching out into gaming monitors now. The company is best known for its line of value-for-money gaming machines, and its new PRISM+ brand of monitors takes a similar approach with top-notch specifications and a price you can stomach.

The PRISM+ X315 and X340 will debut tomorrow at IT Show 2017, and both are outfitted with premium features like high refresh rates and curved screens.

The 31.5-inch X315 is the cheaper and smaller of the two. It features a modest 1,920 x 1,080-pixel resolution Samsung VA panel, so this isn’t going to be the crispest of screens, but it does have a 144Hz refresh rate, which means you should enjoy a far more fluid gaming experience.

The R1800 curvature is the same as that on other curved gaming monitors like the 27-inch Samsung CFG70, even though that monitor is smaller, and the larger 34-inch PRISM+ X340 also sports a similar curvature.

The latter is the current flagship model, and it boasts a 3,440 x 1,440-pixel Samsung VA panel and a native 100Hz refresh rate. However, if you lower the resolution to 2,560 x 1,080 pixels, you can get the refresh rate up to 144Hz.

To be sure, curved monitors this big aren’t the best fit for fast-paced competitive shooters like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but they can make for a seriously immersive experience with other game genres.

Both monitors boast 3,000:1 contrast ratios and AMD FreeSync technology, and the latter should help eliminate issues like stuttering and screen tearing when used with compatible AMD GPUs.

That aside, one of the most attractive aspects of the monitors is their minimalist design, which is a welcome departure from the loud, gamer-oriented designs we’re used to seeing. With their thin bezels and clean lines, the PRISM+ monitors will fit in easily with most setups.

But the real punchline is how much these monitors will cost. After all, it’s not every day that you find a 34-inch curved monitor for under S$1,000. That said, the PRISM+ X340 will cost just S$899 at IT Show 2017, a nice discount off its regular S$1,299 price tag. Similarly, the X315 is priced at S$450, down from a usual price of S$688.
