The YU7 wasn’t the only thing that Xiaomi announced at its mega “Human x Car x Home” event. Though the car was undoubtedly the star of the show, Xiaomi kicked things off with the Mix Flip 2—the successor to the Mix Flip that we were pretty fond of.

In terms of design, not much has changed, but we have new colours. It now comes in Plum Green, Nebula Purple, Lattice Gold, and Shell White. The main display is still 6.86 inches but features stronger glass that should make it more durable. The hinge has also been improved to reduce the crease it creates on the main display when it’s unfolded. It’s also said to be more durable.

The cover screen is 4.01 inches and now works with over 500 apps.

The cover screen is 4.01 inches but it now works with up to 500 apps, which should make it more useful to its owners. Both screens have 120Hz refresh rates and a peak brightness of 3,200 nits.

Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite. The entry-level model comes with 12GB and 256GB of storage. There’s also a variant with 12GB and 512GB storage and another with 16GB of memory and 1TB storage.

The Mix Flip 2 will come in four colours.

One notable improvement is the battery, which is now 5,165mAh—up from 4,780mAh in its predecessor. The camera system is interesting because Xiaomi is changing the secondary camera from a telephoto to an ultrawide. Both main and secondary cameras will have 50MP sensors, though the main camera sensor will be larger. The front-facing camera has a 32MP sensor.

Availability and pricing

The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is available in China now with prices starting at 5,999 RMB (~S$1,066). No word on local availability and pricing, but we will update this section when we know more.
