WhatsApp brings AI-powered Writing Help and Message Summaries to Singapore
Singapore is among the first few countries to get the Writing Help feature.

WhatsApp just announced the rollout of two AI-powered features in Singapore: Writing Help and Message Summaries.
Writing Help
Writing Help is the latest AI feature powered by Meta’s Private Processing technology. It offers AI-generated style suggestions such as professional, funny and supportive that users can use or edit further to set the right tone in their message replies.
To use Writing Help, you draft a message in a one-on-one or group chat, then tap the new pencil icon to view the list of suggestions.
At launch, the feature only supports English and is available in the US, Singapore, and select other countries. Meta plans to expand language support and roll out to more countries later this year.
Message Summaries
Launched three months ago in the US, WhatsApp is now bringing Message Summaries to Singapore.
Like Writing Help, the feature uses Private Processing technology to generate summaries of unread messages in a chat for a quick preview. This is especially useful for busy individuals who might not have the time to scroll through every single unread message in a hyperactive group chat.
Understanding Private Processing
Built on top of a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), Private Processing enables Meta AI features to handle users’ requests in a secure cloud environment where no one - including Meta or WhatsApp - can access the messages. Data privacy is protected through:
- Including only the data needed to process the request
- Encrypting all requests and messages between the user’s device and Private Processing
- Ensuring no access is retained, and no messages or responses are stored once the request is completed
