WhatsApp could be launching a companion app for the Apple Watch.

According to WABetaInfo, a new WhatsApp build on TestFlight reveals deeper integration with the Apple Watch. Users can view the latest messages, reply, and react directly from their wrist. They can also send voice messages, use emojis, and dictate replies using voice input.

The app, however, does not allow users to depend solely on the watch for communication. Your paired iPhone needs to be nearby for the app to work. Since the connection between WhatsApp on the iPhone and Apple Watch is automatic, users won’t need to scan a QR code to link their accounts.

It is unclear when WhatsApp plans to roll out the Apple Watch companion app. The company previously announced an official smartwatch app for Wear OS 3 and newer devices in July 2023.
