Close to a year after announcing its plans to launch a smartwatch, Tag Heuer is ready to start selling its first smartwatch in November.

Jean-Claude Biver, the head of the watchmaking division at LVMH, revealed in an interview with Bloomberg that the Carrera Wearable 01 will be available for purchase in New York on 9th November at 11AM. Biver shared the price in another interview with CNBC.

CNBC - "We were a little bit concerned about the price, because we're going to sell it at $1,800 ... and now we are quite reassured because Apple is telling us we can sell at $1,500 or even more," he said. "I'm very, very pleased."

The finalized retail price of the smartwatch is slightly higher than his earlier estimate as Biver is convinced that there is a market for luxury smartwatches after seeing the partnership between Apple and Hermes. Prices for the Apple Watch Hermes edition range from US$1,100 to US$1,250.

Biver also shared his gloomy forecast for the Swiss watch industry in 2016. The economic slowdown in China, surge in Swiss franc and introduction of the Apple Watch would mean a tougher year ahead.
