Despite everyone from Fitbit to Tag Heuer now making smartwatches, things have been surprisingly quiet from Swiss mega-group Swatch. Until now that is. Group CEO Nick Hayek has told Bloomberg that Swatch has developed a new platform for wearables in partnership with the Swiss Center for Electronics. The new software, he claims, will do a better job of protecting your personal data and use significantly less battery life than both Apple's WatchOS and Google's Android Wear.

Don't expect a smartwatch from Swatch anytime soon though, the report also claims that the first Swatch smartwatch won't launch until towards the end of 2018 under Swatch's Tissot brand.
