Samsung may be expanding support for the Gear S2 smartwatch beyond the Android platform and on to Apple's iOS ecosystem.

According to UK site Digital Spy, a Samsung spokesperson confirmed that the company is "positively looking" to bring iOS support for the Gear S2. This marks another change in Samsung's strategy as its previous Gear wearables were only compatible with its Galaxy devices.

Digital Spy - “We are looking at possibilities to open it up to iOS,” the spokesperson told us while discussing the Gear S2. They added: “Because we opened it up to Android, we are looking at this.”

With selected and all upcoming Android Wear devices now compatible with the iPhone, the Apple Watch now faces more competition than ever.
