Research firm Strategy Analytics has released its latest data on the global wearable market with Samsung securing a huge milestone in Q1 2017.
According to Strategy Analytics, sales of Samsung's wearables overtook that of Fitbit for the first time in Q1 2017. Samsung's market share stood at 12.8%, which is a slight lead over Fitbit's 12.2% market share. Apple still holds the top position with strong sales of the Apple Watches.
Strategy Analytics claimed that the success of the Gear S3 propelled Samsung to the second position in the global wearable market. Fitbit is said to have delayed the launch of its second generation smartwatch due to production issues, therefore regaining market share in the current quarter might be an uphill task.
