Samsung is reportedly making 600,000 more Galaxy Rings this year to meet the market demand.

Market response to the Samsung Galaxy Ring is said to be better than expected and the South Korean tech giant is responding by dramatically ramping up production.

TheElec reports that Samsung initially planned to produce 400,000 units of the Galaxy Ring and monitor the market response before deciding on its next course of action.

Now, sources told TheElec that Samsung has informed suppliers to increase production by 600,000 units due to the positive market response. This will increase the number of Galaxy Rings produced this year to one million units.

If demand for the Galaxy Ring continues for the rest of the year, Samsung might hit the one-million milestone this year. It would be an impressive feat considering Oura took 7 years to hit that sales figure.

Oura recently announced it has sold more than 2.5 million rings to date. Given that a second-generation Galaxy Ring is likely in the pipeline for release next year, it looks like Samsung will quickly catch up with one of the pioneers of the smart ring industry.
