Samsung has officially entered the ring wearable market with its Samsung Galaxy Ring.

First seen at MWC 2024, the Galaxy Ring lets users monitor their heart rate, sleep patterns, menstrual cycle, and more through the use of the onboard sensors and the Samsung Health App.

The Galaxy Ring will have three sensors. An accelerometer, PPG (photoplethysmography), and a skin temperature sensor. At the core of the Galaxy Ring’s features is its sleep-tracking capabilities. Utilising the onboard sensor and AI algorithms, the ring can provide detailed insights into sleep patterns which includes reports of the movement during sleep, sleep latency, and heart and respiratory rates.

For women, the Galaxy Ring is also able to offer menstrual cycle tracking through overnight skin temperature monitoring. Based on our first looks at the Samsung Galaxy Ring, the sensors do not stick out and affect the overall comfort while worn.

During the showcase, Samsung also announced a brand new “Energy Score” feature which evaluates the user's physical and mental conditions across multiple factors to provide personalised recommendations. These recommendations come in the form of “Wellness Tips” which may include suggestions of ways to improve sleep quality or various exercises that the users can do based on their activity levels.

Other than the sleep and wellness tips, the Galaxy Ring can also offer heart rate alerts and automatic workout detection. Users will be able to see the data and insights obtained from the Galaxy Ring right from the Samsung Health app.

Out of the box, the Samsung Galaxy Ring will come with a transparent case to store and charge the ring. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Ring can last up to seven days on a single charge. Weighing no more than 3g, the Samsung Galaxy Ring will be available in ring sizes 5 to 13 and will come in a grade 5 titanium finish

Adding to its impressive list of features, the Galaxy Ring will also allow users to control their Galaxy smartphones. Through a simple double pinch gesture, users can take photos, dismiss alarms, and more. And in the event you misplace your Galaxy Ring, it can be located via the Find My Ring feature on Samsung Find.

Availability and Pricing

The Samsung Galaxy Ring will be available in nine ring sizes ranging from ring size 5 to 13. The Galaxy Ring will come in three colours: Ceramic black, Platinum Silver, and Gold
