The Exynos W1000 is expected to debut on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch7 lineup.
Ahead of its July 10 Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, Samsung just announced a new chip called the Exynos W1000 for its smartwatches.
The Samsung Exynos W1000 is notable because it's the company's first processor to be built using a 3nm process node.
A technical highlight of the Exynos W1000 is that it uses a single ARM Cortex-A78 big core and four ARM Cortex-A55 little cores.
As a result, the Exynos W1000 boasts performance improvements of up to 3.4x and 3.7x in single and multi-core benchmarks respectively compared to its predecessor – the Exynos W930.
Under real-world usage conditions, Samsung says the Exynos W1000 launches key apps up to 2.7x faster and lets you smoothly toggle between apps.
Another key feature is the use of Fan-Out Panel-Level Packaging (FOPLP) to improve heat dissipation. And with a 2.5D Always-on-display engine, the Exynos W1000 offers a better display with higher-quality watch faces.
The Exynos W1000 is expected to power the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch7 lineup, which includes the Galaxy Watch7 Ultra. The new watches are expected to make their debut at the next Unpacked event on 10 July.
