Huawei announced several new wearables during its 19 September 2024 keynote in Barcelona, Spain. It updated its iOS-and-Android-compatible Watch GT offerings with a new Huawei Watch GT 5 series, and added a new colour to its Watch Ultimate lineup, the Huawei Watch Ultimate Green Edition.

The latest Huawei flagship smartwatches (Watch GT 5 series) get a breakthrough in tracking prowess through Huawei’s newly launched TruSense System. Instead of monitoring singular vitals to offer numbers that might be hard to understand from a health POV, the TruSense System tracks six of the body’s major health systems to provide readings across more than 60 indicators.

If you want to know how TruSense System works, we have an in-depth article here.

That covers Huawei's improved tracking accuracy claims with the new Watch GT 5 series.. The smartwatches come in two models and three wrist sizes: Huawei Watch GT 5 (41mm and 46mm) and Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro (42mm and 46mm).

The Watch GT 5 Pro gets special treatment. Huawei said it is crafted from aerospace-grade titanium alloy and nanocrystal ceramic.

While both standard and Pro watches have the entire breadth of TruSense System, the Pro also gets more Pro-level sports features for golfing. Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro comes with Golf Course mode, which supports 15,000 global golf course maps, and a driving range mode that lets you get readings for swing practice.

Additionally, it’s also the first time Huawei’s GT series has free diving mode, which was previously available only for its Watch Ultimate variants.

The previously launched Huawei Watch Ultimate now gets a new Green colourway, joining its Gold Edition and standard Blue and Black variants.

This green edition gets a dual-colour, nano-tech ceramic bezel, and white-green livery to match Huawei’s serious foray into golf tracking.

It gets even more golf tracking features called Advanced Golf Course Mode. On top of the Watch GT 5 Pro’s features mentioned above, Huawei Watch Ultimate gets plays-like distance (how you need to swing in order to reach your target’s par), shot distance (calculates distance travelled between each swing) and AI Caddie, which reads your performance metrics and recommends the ideal clubs in your stash and the direction you should go for.

For hikers, they get a new Route Import feature, which lets you plan your routes (with elevation data) ahead of an expedition.

An important note is that the previous Watch Ultimate devices all also get the new golfing features as firmware updates. This newly launched Watch Ultimate Green Edition gets it right out of the packaging box.

Also, as mentioned at the top, these Huawei smartwatches are fully compatible with iOS and Android phones, via the Huawei Health app (iOS, AppGallery).
