After announcing their 10 September launch event just a couple of days ago, Huawei is gearing up for yet another product launch. This time, it’s for their latest smartwatch.
The date to mark in your calendars is 19 September. Although Huawei didn't state a time, we know it's happening in Barcelona, Spain.
Huawei is expected to announce its Watch GT5 series of smartwatches at this event. As the successor to the Watch GT4, the Watch GT5 series will be the first smartwatch from Huawei to feature its recently announced TrueSense System.
To put it briefly, the TrueSense System is a comprehensive sensor module designed to measure over 60 health and fitness indicators, covering six major body systems. Unlike traditional single-point monitoring systems, TruSense aims to provide a more holistic view of an individual's health, making it particularly useful for tracking chronic conditions that develop over time.
The TruSense system incorporates five vital signs monitoring: blood pressure, SpO2 (blood oxygen saturation), heart rate, respiratory rate, and body temperature to give more accurate and faster readings. Check out our article here to learn more about it.

Besides the TrueSense System, the watch is rumoured to feature an improved version of HarmonyOS, IP68 water and dust resistance, and potentially 18W fast charging support. Based on the teaser image above, it looks like the Watch GT5 will have an octagonal watch case – the Watch GT4 had a conventional round case.
In addition to the design change, the launch image also shows the watch in two colours, Black and White, and it will likely come in 41mm or 46mm sizes.
Huawei might also introduce the successor to their Watch D, the Watch D2, at the event. However, little is known about the watch at this time.
