At the Made by Google event, one of the expected announcements was that of the Google Pixel Watch 2.

Google says that the Pixel Watch 2 comes with all-new health sensors, its best heart rate tracking, enhanced personal safety features, and significant performance upgrades, all while delivering a full-day’s battery life. Users can get deeper health insights, new stress management tools, as well as new fitness tracking tools from Fitbit.

The Google Pixel Watch 2 will come in two sizes, three different coloured cases and four bands. Coming in small and large, they will be available in a Matte Black Aluminium Case with an Obsidian Active Band, Polished Silver Aluminium Case with a Bay Active Band, a Polished Silver Aluminium Case with a Porcelain Active Band, and a Champagne Gold Aluminium Case and a Hazel Active Band. Made from 100% recycled aluminium, there is a Haptic crown and a button on the right side of the smartwatch.

Both smartwatches come powered by a Qualcomm SW5100 and a Cortex M33 co-processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. A little geek talk first, this processing platform isn't exactly the new Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 wearables platform announced by Qualcomm as the latter uses a different co-processor (Cortex M55). Nevertheless, there's a lot else in common among them.

The new watch now sports an Always-on display, Custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5, a 1.2-inch 320 ppi AMOLED display with DCI-P3 colour, a brightness boost of up to 1000 nits, and IP68 water and dust resistance. As we said earlier, you can get 24 hours of battery life with the 306mAh battery and users can enjoy a full day of charge in just 75 minutes.

In terms of connectivity options, the Google Pixel Watch 2 comes with 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, and NFC.

Getting to a healthier you

Building the original Pixel Watch’s use of Fitbit health sensors, the Pixel Watch 2 now has Fitbit's most accurate heart rate sensor so it can track your heart rate all day, every day, even during vigorous exercise. With more accurate heart rate tracking, you get Google's best insight into foundational health metrics, from Active Zone Minutes to body-response tracking and heart health. And if you need more relaxation, the Pixel Watch 2 also comes with Fitbit's most advanced stress-management features so you can learn how your body responds to potential stress or excitement, you can understand potential patterns and learn to make meaningful changes to your lifestyle.
