At its just concluded 'Let Us Loop You In' special event, Apple has unveiled a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro and an up-to-date 4-inch iPhone SE. While Apple Watch 2 is nowhere in sight, Apple did announce new watch bands for the Apple Watch and a new starting price.
The new watch bands will come in a variety of options, including one using a new material that Apple calls Woven Nylon, and a new Milanese Loop in Space Black. The Woven Nylon strap comes in seven different colors, boasts a "four-layer construction", and costs S$78. The S$288 black Milanese Loop touts the same stainless steel mesh design with adjustable magnetic closure as the silver Milanese Loop. Apple has also added new colors for its sport and leather bands.
Some funky colors here.
According to Apple, a third of Apple Watch users "regularly" switch out their watch straps, which prompted them to introduce more color variety into the strap options. These newly introduced straps can be bought separately or together with an Apple Watch.
In addition, the Apple Watch Sport will be retailing at a lower starting price of US$299 for the 38mm model. That's a US$50 price drop from the initial launch price of US$349 last year. According to the Singapore Apple Store website, the 38mm Apple Watch Sport will retail here for S$448, with the 42mm version going for S$529 (including GST). Previously, they cost S$518 and S$598 respectively.
