Apple rumored to manufacture AR headset as early as Q4 2019

Apple could start mass production of its AR headset as early as Q4 this year.

Apple's augmented reality (AR) headset is rumored to enter mass production by end of this year.

According to reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is said to be carrying out mass production of the AR headset as early as Q4 2019. The timeline could shift, but Kuo believes mass production will start by the Q2 2020 at the latest.

Kuo also shared that the AR headset will be heavily dependent on the iPhone for computing, rendering, Internet connectivity and location services. The AR headset could pair wirelessly like the Apple Watch.

CNET reported in April 2018 that Apple is working on a wireless headset which is capable of supporting AR and VR technology. It is slated for launch in 2020. The iPhone maker recently appointed Frank Casanova, a veteran iPhone executive as its first head of product marketing for AR.
