Apple rolls out screen replacement program for Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3

Aluminum models of the Apple Watch Series 2 and Series 3 are eligible for the screen replacement program.

If you own a Series 2 or Series 3 aluminum model, it may be covered under Apple's screen replacement program. 

In its support document, Apple states that a crack may form along the rounded edge of the screen in the aluminum models of an Apple Watch Series 2 or Series 3. The crack can begin on one side and then continue around the screen. Below is an image shown by Apple of the defect:

Eligible Apple Watch models that have this type of crack will be repaired, free of charge by Apple or Apple Authorized Service Provider. According to Apple, these models are eligible for the program:

The screen replacement program covers eligible aluminum models of the Series 2 and Series 3 for three years after the first retail sale of the unit or one year from the start date of this program, whichever is longer. No other Apple Watch models are covered under this program.
