UNBOXED by Singtel is a 100% unmanned experiential pop-up concept store

UNBOXED by Singtel is a new retail and experiential concept store. This unmanned, pop-up store will introduce Singtel customers to a revolutionary retail experience that’s driven by advanced technology.

For a start, there’s an in-store roving live bot, powered by facial recognition technology, to dish out personalized recommendations to customers.

They can also proceed to video-assisted self-help kiosks to “sign up for mobile plans, make bill payments, top up prepaid cards and Dash wallets, and get instant SIM card replacements.”

For customers who have signed up successfully for new mobile plans, they can pick up their purchased devices from the in-store POPStation, if the devices are in-stock.

They can then proceed to the Accessories Wall to complement their new devices with accompanying accessories.

There are also latest phones on display for customers to try out, the devices’ specifications can be viewed and compared from the in-store display wall. UNBOXED is a joint effort by Singtel, SingPost and NCS, who developed the Sentinel security solution for the unmanned store. The POPStation lockers are stocked with devices and replenished daily using SingPost’s Last Mile Platform (LaMP).

When fully extended, UNBOXED occupies a 45 square meter footprint. The store is modular and can be easily transported. It can also be reconfigured to fit different spaces. UNBOXED will move to a new location every few months to serve customers at areas with high footfall, like transport hubs and school campuses.
