Singtel kick starts iPhone 8 and 8 Plus collection at Marina Bay Sands

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus proved to be a hit, even with the premium iPhone X coming in less than seven weeks.

Singtel’s iPhone 8 and 8 Plus collection was held at Marina Bay Sands’ convention hall, like past years. Approximately 80 customers were queuing prior to the doors opening. The affair was hosted by deejays Joakim Gomez and Sonia Chew.

To help customers feel at ease while they wait for their turns, Singtel set up various demo booths for iPhones and other products, together with a waiting area with games - Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite (PS4) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo Switch). The collection and contract counters are lined up against the sides of the hall for accessibility.

The first customer in the queue is Eng Guan Theng, 30, an accountant (civil servant) who purchased not one, but two units of iPhone 8 Plus (256GB) – one in Gold, and the other in Space Grey. The second unit is for his mother, and he will be leaving the color choice to her. Guan Theng used the first-generation iPhone before switching over to Samsung handsets – this year, he’s coming back to iPhones from a Samsung Galaxy Note 5, saying that he simply wanted to try something different.

“I wasn’t expecting to be the first in line,” said Guan Theng when we asked if he planned to be early. “I just happened to be on leave.”
