M1 Corporate Individual (CORI) scheme customers will be able to reserve and place a deposit to secure flagship smartphones via WhatsApp starting from the iPhone 16 pre-order.
M1 first offered WhatsApp as a sales channel in August 2023, where customers could only register their interest in popular models and receive first-hand updates when sales went live. But through a partnership with Stripe, M1’s CORI customers can now make a deposit and reserve a handset using WhatsApp too.
Mustafa Kapasi, Chief Operating Officer of M1, said:
This is M1’s first foray into conversational commerce. WhatsApp is a popular and WhatsApp is a popular and widely-used private messaging app in Singapore and we want to ensure we can meet our customers where they are at. Our customers have shared that they welcome a channel that feels closer to them.
According to M1, the WhatsApp reservation will start from tonight’s iPhone 16 pre-orders. This means that M1 CORI customers can use WhatsApp to reserve an iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
