Research firm IHS Markit claims that Apple is working on a foldable iPad.
Based on information provided by a supply chain analyst, IHS Markit shared that the foldable iPad would feature a MacBook-sized screen. This means we could expect screen sizes of between 12 to 15 inches for the foldable iPad. IHS Markit added that the foldable iPad would support 5G connectivity.
The biggest iPad screen size at the moment is 12.9-inches, so it's not hard to imagine a foldable iPhone with screen size of about 8-inches unfolding to a screen size of between 12 to 15-inches. Considering that Apple is expected to introduce a 5G iPhone in 2020, it is likely that the foldable iPad will arrive beyond 2020.
Apple has been rumored to be working on a foldable iPhone since 2017. The Bell reported in October 2017 that Apple started working on a foldable iPhone with LG Display. The iPhone maker also submitted two patents for a foldable display over the past two years.
