Apple iPhone 6 fever too hot for M1 to handle, website crashes under heavy traffic

The Apple iPhone 6 fever has hit M1 as its website struggles to cope with the unusually high traffic more than 7 hours after releasing its price plans and pre-order page for customers.

Many customers saw this error message when trying to access M1's website for the past 7 hours.

Apple Online Store (Singapore) is not the only website facing high traffic today; M1 is also experiencing unusually high traffic which has caused unhappiness among many customers.

Seven hours after releasing its contract pricing for the new iPhone 6 models, customers are still unable to access M1's pre-order website. A lucky few managed to secure their orders after trying for several hours.

Consumers in Singapore are not alone; demand for the new iPhones apparently crashed the websites of all major telcos in Australia and the U.K. The fact that outages are experienced in other parts of the world suggests that telcos are not sufficiently prepared to handle the intense demand for the new iPhones. SingTel and StarHub should learn from today's incidents and better prepare themselves.
