Xiaomi has been rather quiet in the tablet scene since May 2014 when it launched the Mi Pad. There could be a plausible reason for that as the Chinese company is rumored to be working on a new tablet powered by a different operating system.

According to Chinese IT analyst Pan Jiutang, Xiaomi is developing a Windows 10 table and plans to announce it within the Q3 timeframe. This means that we are looking at a launch sometime in September. If this report is true, it will mark a change in strategy for Xiaomi as its mobile devices ship with MIUI OS which is based on Android.

In December 2014, images of the Mi Pad 2 surfaced on the Internet which revealed a different design. The Mi Pad 2 is alleged to sport the same display size (7.9-inches) and resolution (2,048 x 1,536 pixels), and runs on an Intel 1.8GHz chipset.
