Xiaomi has announced the launch of its work and entertainment-centric Xiaomi Pad 6 in Singapore. The company calls the new device “an efficient workstation for today’s multi-tasking professionals” that is ready to serve them both work and play.

Bringing the hardware

The Xiaomi Pad 6 features an 11-inch WQHD+ (2,880 x 1,800) display at 309ppi supporting Dolby Vision for a vivid visual experience. It offers 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut for 1.07 billion colours and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz for a smooth gaming experience. This is packed into a form-factor that weighs 490g. This makes it a touch lighter than the Xiaomi Pad 5 which weighed 511g.

It comes powered by a Snapdragon 870 chipset, 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, a quad-speaker setup that also supports Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio, and an 8840mAh battery. This mostly represents an improvement over its predecessor which was first announced during a Xiaomi event nearly two years ago.

While not as popular as a smartphone for photography, the Xiaomi Pad 6 still comes with a 13MP rear camera that is housed in a sizeable camera bump and an 8MP front camera.

There are a host of accessories Xiaomi is making available to use alongside the Xiaomi Pad 6.

First is an upgraded Xiaomi Smart Pen (2nd generation), second is the Xiaomi Pad 6 Keyboard, and third is the Xiaomi Pad 6 Cover.

The Xiaomi Smart Pen (2nd generation) makes it even easy to take notes, grab a screenshot or use the drawing function to illustrate creative ideas. Its buttons enable you to take a quick screenshot, or quickly switch between writing, painting and colour functions whenever needed in the Notes application.

When used with a Xiaomi Pad 6 Keyboard, functionality is ramped up further and the interface is customisable so users can create personalised shortcuts. For video calls, it has a centred ultra-wide front camera with a FocusFrame function that automatically adjusts the camera to keep the user clearly in the middle of the shot.

The Xiaomi Pad 6 Cover holds the device in place thanks to the strength of its magnets and like most tablet covers, can turn off the device simply by shutting the cover.
