OnePlus just unveiled its second-generation Android tablet called the Pad 2.

The OnePlus Pad 2 retains the metallic chassis with curved edges and a single camera module on the rear, but sports a slightly bigger 12.1-inch 3K display (versus 11.6-inch on the first-gen model). The larger screen estate allows you to place three on-screen apps simultaneously and seamlessly drag and drop between them.

While the adaptive refresh rate remains the same at 144Hz, the display is now capable of up to 900 nits of brightness – twice as bright as its predecessor.

Powering the OnePlus Pad 2 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 12GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform is a massive upgrade over the first-gen model's MediaTek Dimensity 9000.

The OnePlus Pad 2 is equipped with a 9,510mAh battery which supports 67W fast wired charging and has a claimed battery life of up to 12 hours of YouTube video watching or 35 hours of Spotify. The company claims it can be charged from 0% to 100% in 81 minutes.

On the software front, the OnePlus Pad 2 comes with OxygenOS 14.1 and several AI features such as AI Speak to read text aloud while you scroll, AI Summary to provide a summary of any article, Recording Summary to convert audio messages to summaries, and AI Writer for better writing.

OnePlus also launched two optional accessories for the Pad 2, which are the Stylo 2 stylus and Smart Keyboard.

The Stylo 2 has 16,000 levels of pressure sensitivity and a haptic motor that offers subtle vibration feedback as you use it. It magnetically attaches to the tablet and charges.

The Smart Keyboard has a redesigned touchpad for easier and faster swiping and sports a dedicated AI button to activate Google Assistant.

Based on the OnePlus Pad 2's specifications and features, it looks like it could be one of the most exciting and promising new Android tablets of the year.
