The global shortage of chips and components could affect stocks of Apple’s upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
People familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that Apple is facing production issues of the Mini-LED display panels, which is exclusive for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Aside from facing a shortage of components, suppliers are also dealing with poor manufacturing yields.
Apple is said to be unveiling the new iPad Pro models in the second half of the month. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro could be available at a later date in limited quantities.
Nikkei Asia reported last week that production of some MacBooks and iPad models are affected by the global chip shortage. However, production plans for the iPhone are not affected at the moment.
The global chip shortage is expected to hit phone shipments this year with Samsung considering to skip the 2021 Galaxy Note models. Foxconn believes the shortage will last till Q2 2022.
