Apple's next iPad Pro refresh will come with more significant updates than the current iPad Pro models. The current iPad Pro models were announced in March with modest upgrades such as the A12Z processor, a new dual-camera module and a LiDAR Scanner.

Tipster @L0vetodream shared in two tweets that the next generation iPad Pros (codenamed J517 and J522) will be equipped with A14X chipsets, Mini-LED displays and Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G modem. They are expected to be announced in Q1 or Q2 of 2021.

The iPad Pros with Mini-LED displays were initially said to arrive at the end of this year, but the launch schedule has been pushed back to 2021 due to the Covid-19 outbreak and reports of the "complex panel design". Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's check on the supply chain also suggested mass production of LED chips will only start in Q3 and the Mini-LED product launch schedule is likely to extend into Q1 2021.

Apple is expected to focus heavily on Mini-LED and Micro-LED in the next few years. It has invested US$334 million in a new Taiwanese plant for R&D purposes and production of the display panels.
