The Apple Pencil (2nd Generation).
While the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max support the Qi wireless charging standard, the Apple Pencil (2nd Generation) does not.
Responding to an inquiry from ZDNet, an Apple spokesperson confirmed that the Apple Pencil (2nd Generation) does not support Qi. Put simply, Apple uses a proprietary wireless charging system for the new Apple Pencil which requires you to attach it to the side of the new iPad Pro.
Apple did not provide any explanation as to why Qi is not supported on the new Apple Pencil. Nonetheless, the new charging method is still better than the one used for the first generation Apple Pencil where you need to remove the cap from the base of the stylus and insert it into the Lightning port of the iPad or use the bundled Lightning adapter to charge.
