The launch of the new Huawei MatePad 11.5”S with its PaperMatte display has just been announced for Singapore.
A PaperMatte display is one that uses nano-level anti-glare etching technology eliminates 97% of all light interference, bringing a paper-like visual experience. It has “nanoscale anti-glare etching technology to eliminate 99% of light interference and uses multiple magnetron nano optical layers reduce the screen reflectivity by 60%”. Mind you these numbers come from testing done in Huawei's own labs.
The multi-touch enabled 11.5-inch TFT LCD display (with a resolution of 2800 x 1840) has a refresh rate of up to 144hz, while the tablet itself is powered by 8GB of Ram, and 256GB of storage. It comes running on HarmonyOS 4.2 and uses an 8800mAh battery. It has quad speakers that use Histen 9.0 technology for immersive, high-quality sound. This is a sound technology from Huawei that the company says delivers authentic high-quality, vibrant and crisp sound to create an immersive audio experience.
We reached out to Huawei as to the processor used for the model coming to Singapore, and they told us it was the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 that came out in 2022.
At 6.2mm thick and weighing 510g, Huawei says that the PaperMatte display of the MatePad 11.5”S delivers a tactile, paper-like experience for seamless reading, writing, drawing, and painting. If fact, Huawei says that using the Huawei M-Pencil (3rd generation) together with the MatePad 11.5”S gives the tactile feedback of using actual paper (along with the sound) , ensuring precision in your digital creations.
The Huawei M-Pencil (3rd generation) is powered by NearLink technology and has over 10,000 pressure sensing levels. It has heightened sensitivity for precise line control and smoother, cleaner strokes when drawing, sketching, painting or writing.
NearLink technology was developed by Huawei to support short-range wireless connection technology (similar to Bluetooth) but with lower power consumption, higher transfer speeds, shorter delays, and more network connections.

Along with the M-Pencil, Huawei has also brought its Smart Magnetic Keyboard (also NearLink powered) to enable a full laptop experience. Using it together with the MatePad 11.5”S, you can put the device into Laptop, Split, or Studio modes.
To take full advantage of the PaperMatte display and the M-Pencil (3rd generation), Huawei has also launched its own painting application for the first time, called the GoPaint App. In a nod to creativity, it comes with interactive tutorials, customisable brushes, and intuitive gesture controls.
The enhanced Huawei Notes offers new functionalities like home screen integration, audio capture alongside notes, and quick gesture controls. Whether in a lecture hall or boardroom, users can effortlessly jot down notes while capturing audio simultaneously, utilising convenient features like note replay and instant shape recognition for efficient organisation and review.

Pre-order the Huawei MatePad 11.5”S for S$698 from June 18, 2024, from the Huawei Experience Stores in 313@Somerset and Westgate, as well as from Huawei’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee.
