HP Unveils ElitePad 900 Tablet Targeted at Business Users

HP has unveiled the HP ElitePad 900 that is a Windows 8-based 10.1-inch tablet aimed at the business-minded users with enterprise computing requirements. The tablet will be available in Singapore in late January 2013; however, its retail price has yet to be confirmed.

This announcement marks HP re-entry into the tablet computing market segment after its short-lived webOS-based HP TouchPad. It marks the company's first effort to produce a tablet that is targeted at business-minded users. The 10.1-inch tablet has a 16:10 aspect ratio display that is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Measuring 9.2 mm thick, and with a weight of 0.68 kilograms, the press release states the tablet is powered by a "next-generation Intel mobile processor", we suspect that its CPU is actually an Intel Atom Z2760 dual-core processor. This new Atom processor is found in a slew of Windows 8-based tablets that were announced by Intel just last week.

The HP ElitePad 900 also features a pair of cameras, one 1080p front- and the other rear-facing 8MP camera with LED flash. The company claims the tablet is fully serviceable, allowing eligible customers to access the panel, battery, motherboard and unibody chassis for in-house maintenance. HP has also introduced a slew of optional accessories that will turn the ElitePad 900 into a "total enterprise solution", among these accessories is the HP Rugged Case for military-grade protection. There is also a docking station, HP ElitePad Docking Station, which allows the tablet to be used together with input devices and a desktop monitor.
