Google's Nexus 7 is still wet between ears, and it has already been hailed as a superior tablet over Amazon's Android-based Kindle Fire, according to Mashable's analysis. Smoother animation and a more responsive touch interface are some of the listed benefits of the Nexus 7. Anyhow, it appears that Amazon isn't going to sit quietly by Google's latest tablet incursion. Based on BGR's report, Amazon has readied two new Kindle Fire tablets in their pipeline, due to be launched in July. The "Coyote" is a 7-inch device, while "Hollywood" is a larger 10-inch edition.

Details on Amazon's upcoming devices are relatively scant at the moment, but it is said that the "Coyote" will carry a dual-core processor. More processing muscle has been catered for "Hollywood", its larger sibling, which allegedly packs a quad-core CPU. The new tablets will also feature a metallic housing instead of a plastic body. More importantly, Amazon's new slates are said to be slimmer than the first-gen Apple iPad tablets, and there are no home buttons on the "Coyote" and "Hollywood" either, as with the existing Kindle Fire. BGR also added that the 10-inch model will tout a front-facing camera, and both models will carry a microUSB port and another outlet speculated to be an HDMI slot.
