Apple to release iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4, but not iPad Air 3 this year?

Apple may not be giving the iPad Air 2 a refresh later this year. It is said to be focusing on the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the iPad Mini 4. Read on to find out why.

The beloved 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 may not be getting a refresh this year if the report from Economic Daily News turns out to be accurate.

According to Economic Daily News, Apple will only be unveiling the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the 7.9-inch iPad Mini 4. Apparently, Apple wants the attention to be on the iPad Pro and has dedicated the main assembly plant to focus on producing the larger iPad.

As for 2016, it is speculated that Apple will introduce the successor to the iPad Air 2 and kill off the iPad Mini lineup so that the company will devote all resources to marketing the larger iPad models.

This is plausible since phablets are cannibalizing the sales of the 7 to 8-inch tablets. DigiTimes reported just a day earlier that the iPad Pro will be available after mid-November
