Four new colours are available.
At its Let Loose event, Apple announced the first update to its iPad Air lineup since 2022 and, also for the first time, it introduced two sizes.
Apple has now made the iPad Air available in an 11-inch model – up from the previous 10.9 inches – and a new 13-inch model. This follows the size options of the iPad Pro range and is targeted at users who desire a larger iPad but without needing the full capabilities of the Pro model (or the price tag of it).
For the first time, the iPad Air will have a larger 13-inch model.
Despite these changes in size, the new iPad Air models continue to use the existing Liquid Retina display technology with LED backlighting, ostensibly to keep cost low. The FaceTime camera, however, is now positioned in the landscape orientation to allow a better video call experience. Additionally, the 13-inch model boasts improved audio capabilities, with speakers that deliver double the bass.
Powered by the M2 chip, the iPad Air is capable of running graphically intensive games like Hoyoverse's upcoming Zenless Zone Zero.
Powering both iPad Air models is the M2 chip and Apple says the shift from M1 chip offers the new iPad Airs approximately 15 percent increase in CPU speed and a 25 percent boost in GPU performance. The Neural Engine has also been improved by 40 percent, promising faster machine learning capabilities to aid in a variety of professional and creative applications.
This is arguably the most powerful iPad Air lineup that Apple has launched.
Design-wise, the iPad Air maintains the flat edges and industrial look similar to the iPad Pro series. Storage options has been increased too, with up to 1TB supported now and Apple also revealed four colour options of Blue, Purple, Starlight and Space Gray. Pricing starts at S$899 for the 128GB 11-inch model with Wi-Fi and S$1,199 for the 13-inch version with Wi-Fi.
