The recently announced Apple iPad mini 7 may not suffer from the jelly scrolling issue that plagued the iPad mini 6.
Jason Nell and Dan Moren revealed in their weekly Six Colours Podcast that Apple made "unspecified adjustments to the display hardware in the iPad mini 7" to address the jelly scrolling issue.
Since the iPad mini 7 is not yet in the hands of consumers, it is too early to determine if the jelly scrolling issue is fixed.
According to Apple, the jelly scroll effect is a normal behaviour for LCD displays where there is a slight delay in refresh times between the lines at the top and bottom of the screen. This could lead to uneven scrolling issues.
The problem is more apparent on the iPad mini because the screen refreshes horizontally when held in portrait mode.
Instant Digital claimed in October last year that Apple planned to reduce the jelly scroll effect by rotating the screen assembly.
The iPad mini 7 will be available starting tomorrow (23 October). Stay tuned for our review as we check if the jelly scroll issue is fixed.
