Besides focusing their efforts on delivering quad-core tablets with Android 4.0, Acer and Lenovo are also said to be preparing to launch Windows 8 tablets in Q3 this year.

According to DigiTimes, anonymous sources from within Asia-based component suppliers claimed that both companies are looking at Intel's upcoming "Clover Trail" processors as they offer better performance with more efficient power consumption.

DigiTimes - "Intel is set to unveil its Medfield processor, designed specifically for Android-based smartphones and tablet PCs, in the first half of 2012. But as Medfield is eclipsed by ARM-based processors in terms of performance and power saving, PC players are putting more hope on Intel's Clover Trail platform, the sources said."

Windows 8 has been receiving positive responses since Microsoft gave a preview of the new operating system in June 2011. With Nokia and Samsung jumping onto the Windows 8 bandwagon, it seems that Microsoft is entering the tablet space in a strong position.
