Xiaomi Unveils Redmi 1S in China, Comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Processor
Chinese phone maker Xiaomi unveiled an upgraded variant of its Redmi smartphone, the Redmi 1S which runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core 1.6GHz processor.

Seven months after launching the Redmi smartphone, Xiaomi announced an upgraded version of the model, the Redmi 1S.
Available for pre-order in China on 20 February, the Redmi 1S ditches the MediaTek MT6589T chipset for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core 1.6GHz processor. Aside from the different processor used, the other specs remain similar to its predecessor. It also comes with 8GB internal storage capacity and Bluetooth 4.0, which are upgrades from the 4GB and Bluetooth 3.0 in the original Redmi. It has a retail price of 799 yuan (S$166 based on yuan to SGD conversion rates at press time)
For now, the Redmi 1S seems to be available for consumers in China. Xiaomi is launching the Redmi in Singapore this Friday for S$169 (inclusive of GST and without line contract). All three telcos have indicated that they are in discussions with Xiaomi to sell its phones.
