Xiaomi unveils its first gaming phone, the Black Shark

Xiaomi is entering the gaming smartphone market with its latest product, the Black Shark. 

Developed in partnership with gaming product company Black Shark, the Xiaomi Black Shark is powered by a Snapdragon 845 mobile platform, up to 8GB RAM, Android 8.1 Oreo and a 4,000mAh battery.

The Black Shark has an integrated liquid cooling system to prevent overheating during intensive gaming sessions and sport a dedicated "Shark key" to enable high performance gaming mode. There is a one-sided "plug-and-play" gamepad which can be attached to the phone. The gampad can provide up to 30 hours of gaming with its 340mAh battery. 

Other specs include a 6-inch, 2.5D display (2,160 x 1,080 pixels), up to 128GB internal storage space, a dual 12MP + 20MP rear camera module with f/1.75 aperture lens, a front-facing 20MP f/2.2 camera, a fingerprint scanner on the front and USB Type-C port. 

The Black Shark is available in two models; the 6GB RAM/64GB internal storage model is priced at 2,999 yuan (!S$628) and the 8GB RAM/128GB internal storage model is priced at 3,499 yuan (~S$732). The gamepad costs 179 yuan (~S$37).
